Hurricanes face rebuilding job in hoops

MIAMI (AP) - With the season about to tip off, reigning Atlantic Coast Conference basketball champion Miami again leads the league, this time in lack of experience.

The Hurricanes are the only ACC team with no returning starters. They return 13 percent of their points from 2012-13, 14 percent of their rebounds and 1 percent of their assists, all league lows.

The team that went 29-7 a year ago and reached the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament was led by five seniors and sophomore Shane Larkin, now with the Dallas Mavericks.

That leaves 2013 Associated Press coach of the year Jim Larranaga with perhaps the biggest rebuilding job of his long career. He says this season's players are talented but face a steep learning curve.
