Beer Can Chicken

A recipe to add a kick to your grilled chicken. One of the ingredients is beer. Time to grab a Bite with Belkys.

The Dish: Beer Can Chicken

Ingredients:
4 lb. whole fryer
3 tbs. kosher salt
3 tbs. garlic powder
1 tbs. onion powder
2 tbs. herbs de provence
1 tbs. chili powder
1 12 oz. beer (any kind)
4 oz. barbecue sauce (your favorite)
2 tbs. vegetable oil

Method of Preparation:

- Clean chicken and pat it dry. (It can be brined overnight if you'd like but not necessary). Rub with oil, then thoroughly coat the chicken with the rub inside and out. Make sure you get it in all the cracks and crevices.

- Open beer and pour out about 4 ounces. Then, add in your favorite barbecue sauce. Put the can in a roasting stand which you can buy online or in stores like Home Depot. Place the chicken on the stand with the can inside the cavity.

- Roast the chicken on the grill or in the oven at 230 degrees for an hour and a half.

To Plate:
Plate the chicken whole, with side dishes of your choice. At Southern Swank Kitchen, they serve Beer Can Chicken with french fries, baked barbecue beans and cole slaw.
