SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE. Fla. (WSVN) -- A water main has been repaired after it burst and flooded a street.

For nearly an hour, Thursday, the burst sent a large amount of water gushing into the air and flooded a street in Southwest Miami-Dade. Homes in the area were never impacted, as they are slightly elevated and gated.

The burst happened off to the side of Southwest 49th Avenue, near 86th Street.

According to Miami-Dade Water and Sewer, crews arrived on scene and lowered the water pressure, so they could make repairs to the 12-inch water main. At this time, no one is without water but residents who live along Southwest 49th Avenue, between 80th and 88th Streets, may experience lower water pressure.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck first arrived on the scene to block the road, just before noon, as crews from Water and Sewer headed over to the scene.

Utility trucks pulled up to the scene soon after, and crews eventually found the valve to shut the water off.

Crews detoured traffic on Southwest 49th Avenue between Southwest 82nd and Southwest 86th Street, so drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
