CORAL GABLES, Fla. (WSVN) -- University of Miami athletic officials say they are encouraged by the prognosis for a football player who was reportedly rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency.

Officials issued a statement Wednesday saying: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter Knighton and his family at this time, though we are encouraged by the prognosis. We look forward to his return to normal activities as soon as his health permits."

According to reports, the redshirt freshman offensive lineman was hospitalized Monday after a workout session.

He was taken to a university hospital, but school officials would not say what exactly happened.
