Child injured after dock partially collapses

Posted: Updated:

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A child was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center after a section of a dock gave way and tossed the child in the water.

A mother and the 6-year-old fell into the water after two pieces of wood came apart.

The dock is located behind a home on 1700 Southeast 5th Court, south of Hillsboro Boulevard on the west side of the Intercoastal waterway.

The two were injured and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child was airlifted to pediatric trauma as a precaution. Both are expected to be OK.
