NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida woman is asking the two men caught on camera taking her newly adopted dog to return her pet.

"I've had Lucky for a week," said Tameika Stephens, who adopted the 6-year-old Pomeranian last week.

Stephens said the dog, who had not been micro-chipped yet and was not wearing a collar, earned his name because he's very fortunate to be alive. She said his previous owners abused him and kept him locked in a garage.

Despite his traumatic past, Stephens called Lucky the perfect pet. "Sit, stay. He knew everything," she said. "I'd get up, he'd get up. Someone knocks on the door, he barks to get my attention and let me know."

Monday evening, Stephens left work at her family's Northwest Miami-Dade accounting business to run errands, leaving Lucky in the care of her colleagues. Surveillance video captured the moment Lucky left the building through the front door, which had been left propped open with a traffic cone, around 9 p.m.

Seven minutes later, another security camera showed Lucky heading behind the building followed by a man, and then a car. The car is seen parking behind the office, located on Northwest 62nd Street and 29th Avenue. The driver is seen getting out of the car, and then both men are shown attempting to coax Lucky out from underneath a trailer.

"He's running around, cause he doesn't know them," said Stephens.

Eventually, surveillance footage shows the men picking up the canine and driving off. It remains unknown whether the men were trying to rescue or steal Lucky.

Stephens said she prays she is able to get her beloved pet back. "I just bought him some new clothes and food," she said. "I want my dog back."

Since Lucky was abused, he suffers from health problems. Many of his teeth are destroyed, and he was recently neutered. He was scheduled to have his stitches removed Wednesday morning.
