Miami-Dade officer under investigation for hit and run

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Miami-Dade Police have relieved an officer of her duties over allegations that she was involved in a hit and run.

The officer is Yvonne Linen Breske, and she has been an officer in Miami-Dade for 14 years. According to sources, Linen Breske works out of the Hammocks Area Substation.

On Tuesday, she attended a gathering. Breske left the gathering and was accused of hitting a car at the intersection of Southwest 150th Avenue and 80th Street, at 7:15 pm.

Breske was off duty and in her own car at the time of the accident. She is accused of fleeing the scene.

The passengers in the car that was hit were not injured, but they wrote down the tag number of the fleeing vehicle. According to sources, this tag was traced back to Breske's car.

Breske was relieved of duty Tuesday pending the outcome of the investigation. She was also given two tickets for failure to provide information on a crash, failure to render aid and careless driving.

This incident comes on the heels of another Miami-Dade Police officer who was accused of making a poor driving decision. On Feb. 16, Miami-Dade police officer Albert Coriat was pulled over in his personal vehicle on the Florida Turnpike. He was arrested for driving under the influence. He could be heard in the back seat of the Florida Highway Patrol trooper's car pleading for his release.

In the case of Breske, officers did not catch up with her until the following day, when the matter became an internal affairs investigation.

It is unknown whether Breske was alone at the time of the crash.

Internal affairs is continuing its investigation.
