NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are searching for a driver who struck an elderly man as he crossed the street and fled the scene.

The accident happened at around 8 p.m., Wednesday, along Northeast 14th Avenue and 145th Street. Investigators said Paul Louis, who is in his 70s, was struck by a white van while crossing the street.

"When I coming outside, I see him on the floor; he don't say nothing," said Marie Nicole Louis, the victim's wife.

The victim's wife of nearly 30 years watched him lay helpless in the street.

Rescue crews rushed the man to Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was last listed in critical condition.

Family members said the victim had battled several medical conditions prior to this terrible accident. "He's had Alzheimer's, he's had cancer, but he's powered through all these things," said the victim's niece, Tabitha Luc. "It would just kill me right now if this were to happen to take his life."

Louis' family said the situation is very difficult for them, but they continue to look for strength through this tough time.

"It's heart-wrenching, but when you see my aunt struggling like this, you can't really like break down and cry right now," said Tabitha Luc. "You have to be strong, not only for yourself but for your family. And hope to find answers and results."

The vehicle involved in this accident is described as a white Ford Econoline. Relatives hope they find the vehicle and the person who was behind the wheel. "They can do the best they can to find the car who hit him because, you know, when somebody hit people and then they leave, it's very bad," said Alvance Luc, the victim's brother-in-law.

Louis' family hopes he pulls through and police catch the cold-hearted driver. "He's a good man, he's a good man," said Marie Nicole Louis.

If you have any information on this hit and run accident, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.

Kindness and charm, unlike the people that live in Sin City, and i'm not talking about Vegas either. Things have changed in the town of Sin as in the motion picture while others have stayed the same. The cast of the movie told Deco what's new in part two.?
