MIAMI (WSVN) -- Cries for change are coming from a South Florida family after a teenager died of heart failure following a police tasering.

On Monday morning, friends and family of 18-year-old Israel Hernandez, who died last August after being tasered by police, gathered outside the state attorney's office in hopes to get a meeting with State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.

The family of Hernandez want clarifications on the teen's death. "How the accident phrasing came about, I have no idea," said Jorge Estomba, spokesperson for the Hernandez Family. "How some of the rumors with the contents of any substance of drugs... I have no idea because the doctor never told me anything like that, so that's very important that we get clarified on all these points. Up to this point those statements are rumors and are false."

The family has also said they want the police officer who used the stun gun arrested.

According to reports, the 18-year-old was spray painting a shuttered fast food restaurant when he was confronted by Miami Beach Police officers. Police said they had to chase Hernandez and then had to use their gun which discharges an electrical discharge.

Last week, the medical examiner's office determined Hernandez' death was an accidental death due to heart failure.

The state attorney's office released the following statement Monday, "While the recent Medical Examiner's conclusion of "accidental death due to electrical discharge" is an extremely important piece of information, our decision will be based upon the totality of the facts."

According to the Florida Bar, prosecutors can only meet with the family's attorney.

A physical copy of the medical examiner's office report has not been released because the incident remains under investigation.
