MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida man is behind bars after barricading himself inside his Miami Gardens home for hours.

Miami Gardens Police, Miami-Dade Police Bomb Squad and Special Response Team officers responded to the home near the 200th block of 27th Court in Miami Gardens, Tuesday, after 49-year-old Franklin Winfield Bain barricaded him self inside the home.

Authorities said they went to the home Monday to serve a search warrant for armed sexual battery and false imprisonment, but Bain's daughter advised he was not home. Tuesday, when he was home, his daughter called police. Officers responded to the home and the Miami-Dade Police Special Response Team was contacted. "We executed a search warrant regarding an armed sexual battery," said Miami Gardens Police Detective Michael Wright.

A neighbor told 7News it all started just after noon. She said authorities asked the man inside the home, at least 40 times, to come out. They also asked him to answer his phone. "He wouldn't answer the phone. He wouldn't come out," said neighbor of suspect Laurie, who did not want to show her face on camera.

"They wouldn't allow anyone to take pictures," said neighbor Tina, who did not want to show her face on camera.

The man's 27-year-old daughter, who was inside the house, was safely removed, shortly after 5 p.m. Power to the house was cut-off and tear gas was deployed inside the home. It was not until an hour later that police were able to detain Bain.

One neighbor said, "He gave some of the neighbors a very creepy feeling."

However, Bain's son is left with mixed feelings. "I don't think he's that kind of person. It's kind of confusing, because when you are with someone, you don't think they are capable of doing such thing."

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Bain was released from prison in 2010.

Bain has been charged with false imprisonment for Tuesday's incident.

Police continue to investigate.
