TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State's Jameis Winston put together the best pitching outing of his collegiate baseball career in the Seminoles' 13-inning win against North Carolina State last week.

The Seminoles went 5-0 as the Heisman Trophy winner saw action on the mound, in the field and at the plate. He also earned his third save of the year.

A look at how the 20-year-old sophomore fared last week:

------

IN RELIEF: The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder struck out a career-high seven batters in a 9-8, extra-inning win against the Wolfpack on Saturday. He entered the tie game in the 9th inning and struck out the side after allowing a hit and throwing a wild pitch. Winston struck out the side again in the 10th -- though he gave up a hit and had a wild pitch. He worked a 1-2-3 11th inning, including another strikeout. Against Central Florida last week, Winston gave up his first run of the year but earned the save. He struck out three, worked out of an eighth-inning jam and allowed two hits and walked his first batter of the year. His pitching line for the week: 4.2 innings, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 10 K, 1 BB, 18 batters faced.

AT THE PLATE: Winston failed to record a hit while going 0 for 4 last week. Winston pinch hit and went 0 for 3 in an 18-1 win against Central Florida on Wednesday. Winston's line this week: 4 games, 0 H, 0BB, 0 RBI, 0 R, 1 K.

IN THE FIELD: He played right field in the sixth inning Wednesday against Central Florida and moved to left field in the seventh, fielding a single in the eighth. In the first game Saturday, he played left field in the eighth inning and right field in the ninth, fielding a double down the right-field line. Winston had a putout while pitching in the final game of the week.

HIGHLIGHT: The seven strikeouts Saturday against North Carolina State was a career high. The three innings pitched were also a career high.

ON THE SEASON: Winston has three hits in 16 at-bats and is batting .188; on the mound, he has pitched 10.2 innings, struck out 13 of the 38 batters he's faced, has given up five hits, one walk and has three saves with a 0.84 ERA.

ON DECK: Florida State plays a single game against rival Florida on Tuesday and then returns to conference action with a three-game series at Clemson this weekend.

QUOTABLE: "It's fun, those are moments in baseball that you are always going to remember," Winston said after Tuesday's 11-10 win against UCF. "They had my back the whole time so I was very comfortable on the mound tonight."
