Credit cards, other valuables stolen from several cars

Posted: Updated:

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Several residents of a North Miami condominium are in distress after vandals broke into their cars, but they say, they are more concerned with what was taken than the actual damage done to their vehicles.

Residents of the North Miami condo near Northeast 135th Street and 23rd Avenue woke up Thursday morning to find their vehicles had been vandalized and their belongings had been stolen.

The thieves made off with credit cards, check books, driver licenses and other more personally valuable items. "Well, I left my purse inside my bag," said a resident. "They took my Kate Spade bag, they took a notebook with my dissertation notes in it, all my notes from my doctorate too, my credit cards, my driver's license, cash."

Police said more than 23 cars were vandalized, early Thursday morning. "We're really scared that something like this is happening in North Miami, and it's frustrating," said Pedro Rangel.

Resident Holy Troll was devastated. "I just can't even process. I am so frustrated. I'm like crying," said Troll. "I am crying already, and it's not even about the car or anything. I'm just so frustrated."

The break-ins come just a day after more than a dozen cars were vandalized in Miami Wednesday and more than 30 were broken into in Hollywood and Little Havana, weeks ago.

Police have yet to say if these crimes are connected. They continue to investigate.

If you have any information on these break-ins, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
