Hip-hop group Migos involved in I-95 shooting

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- The Florida Highway Patrol said the hip-hop group Migos was involved in an early Friday morning shooting on Interstate 95. One person was wounded.

Authorities said the rap group and their entourage were heading back to their South Beach Hotel, southbound on I-95 on a black van when, around 3:30 a.m., shots rang out. "As they were driving back on I-95, according to the statements, a dark vehicle pulled alongside and basically opened fire on them," said FHP Trooper Joe Sanchez.

Sanchez said one of the eight passengers inside the van returned gunfire. "One of the passengers in that van was in possession of a handgun and exchanged gunfire with the other vehicle," he said. "Apparently in the exchange of gunfire, one individual inside that van was struck in the leg."

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The group, best known for their hit single "Versace," had just left Cafe Iguana in Pembroke Pines after they had reportedly gotten into an altercation or disagreement with the nightclub's management. "They were scheduled to perform at [Cafe] Iguana's in Broward," said Sanchez. "For whatever reason, they didn't perform there."

It remains unclear whether Migos was actually at Club Iguana or who was shot. Migos' manager denied that anyone was even injured.

Cafe Iguana issued a statement denying Migos had ever been scheduled to appear at the club: "Unfortunately Migos was not scheduled to perform at our club and this incident is unfortunate but it happened out of county and has nothing to do with the club or management."

Later Friday, group member Kirshnik Ball, better known by his stage name "TakeOff," posted the following tweet, "Tried To Hit Me Up In Traffic? ... But I Had To Work My Magic."

Shortly thereafter, the three group members posted on Instagram a picture of them posing inside a South Beach hotel room.

According to management at the strip club Club 54 in Lauderhill, Migos was supposed to perform at their venue Friday night but canceled the performance. Club management said the group is back in Atlanta.
