MIAMI (WSVN) -- City of Miami officials are calling for accountability from organizers of this year's Ultra Music Festival after a private security guard working at the event was trampled by dozens of people who stormed the perimeter fences surrounding Bayfront Park, Friday night.

Twenty-eight-year-old Erica Mack was reportedly working at her post when, according to Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll, she encountered a large crowd. "[She was] doing what she was supposed to do, she's trying to tell them that they can't do that, to move away," he said.

Instead, authorities said, the revelers stormed through the gate, critically injuring Mack. "She was not strong enough to deal with the mob of people that actually pushed this fence down, pushing her backwards, and the fence landed on top of her," said Carroll. "That is, people started trampling on top of her just to get into the event, and as a result she sustained a major head trauma as well as a broken leg."

The security guard was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she remains in extremely critical condition.

According to Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, festival organizers are to blame for the incident. "Ultra did two things wrong. One: They tried to use too much of their private security, and two: They failed to secure the perimeter fence as they were instructed to do so by the City of Miami Police Department," he said.

Sarnoff also called for the end of the music festival that, he said, has plagued the City of Miami. "I'm asking the chief [of police] and the chief of fire to meet with me, the [City] mayor and the Miami-Dade County mayor," he said. "Let's get through this weekend, and let's put this thing to bed. Never come back again because this is an ultimate insult to everyone that lives in the City of Miami."

Mack's father said the victim's mother was also working security at the festival.

7News tried to reach out to Ultra organizers for comment, but they did not reply.

Miami Police have launched an investigation. They said they are reviewing surveillance video and talking to any witnesses.

Miami is a city of vices and so is Sin City. Luckily, the 305 isn't as violent but we do love our vices. Shireen, what's your vice? Shoes, purses, lipgloss, anything that sparkles and shoes. Did I already say that? We also asked the cast of "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" what their vices are, from vino, cheese to Mexican food. You won't be disappointed.
