MIAMI (WSVN) -- A City of Miami firefighter has been arrested by the FBI on child pornography charges.

Thirty-year-old firefighter and paramedic Alexander Rousseau faced a federal magistrate Monday, a day after he was taken into custody. He has been charged with possession and receipt of child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint by the FBI, their investigation began in December after they identified a computer that had files of child pornography. After months of research and subpoenas, the computer's IP address was located at Fire Station 6, located at 701 N.W. 36th St. in Miami.

In a seven-page signed affidavit, FBI investigators allege Rousseau spent months downloading more then 200 sexually explicit pictures and videos of young children engaged in graphic sexual activities. On Sunday, investigators said Rousseau admitted to seeing the pornographic videos.

Investigators searched the station and found the laptop. According to the FBI, "File sharing program was installed and running on the laptop, including a list of active downloads in progress at that moment. The tittles of the downloading videos were consistent with titles containing child pornography."

They continued, "On the bedside table, next to the bed upon which the laptop computer was sitting, a wallet was found containing the Florida driver's license for Alexander Rousseau."

Rousseau appeared before a federal judge and was denied bond on Monday. He remains in jail.

7News spoke with Rousseau's attorney. He said, in his next court appearance on Wednesday he will make an argument that Rousseau has served his community, has been dedicated to the community, and should be let out on bond pending trial.

Rousseau has been a member of the Miami Department of Fire Rescue since October 2007.
