National Garlic Month

Posted: Updated:

Americans are coming together in April to once again celebrate "the stinking rose." You guessed it: National Garlic Month is upon us up in the 954. They're showing much love for the clove, using it in food and in cocktails as well. Check it out.

Not many vampires will be celebrating National Garlic Month, but even the undead might make it to McCoy's Oceanfront at the Pompano Beach Marriott.

Susan Aichele-Sanders: "For the month of April we're gonna be featuring our specialty garlic cocktails, including the garlic-infused Bloody Mary, as well as McCoy's Michelada, also infused with garlic."

The special ingredient doesn't overwhelm the cocktails. It is, however, a big influence taste-wise.

Adding roasted garlic to their Bloody Mary was a win-win for McCoy's.

Susan Aichele-Sanders: "Our Bloody Mary is actually our number one seller on the menu, so it was kinda cool to be able to play up our best seller, and it's just a good mix."

The Michelada uses a Bloody Mary mix as a base. But with roasted and raw garlic, orange juice, Vodka and beer, it's a whole 'nother drink entirely.

Susan Aichele-Sanders: "You haven't lived until you have one of our Bloody Marys infused with garlic or a McCoy's Michelada. Fantastic."

Garlic is no stranger to the dishes served up by Italio in Fort Lauderdale. The joint has come up with two new offerings to commemorate National Garlic Day on April 19.

Zack Gershonov: "We invite guests to choose either a salad bowl or a pasta bowl that we're specially making for this holiday to celebrate it."

The thyme and lemon marinated chicken salad bowl will knock you out.

Zack Gershonov: "It's made with romaine carrots, cucumbers and bruschetta. It's topped with banana peppers, Italo croutons, roasted garlic bits, feta cheese, and it's all tossed in our signature Italio lemon herb dressing."

Pasta lovers, paradise is yours with the first taste of the rosemary and garlic marinated steak pasta bowl, and here's the best part: Since Garlic Day goes down April 19, both dishes are $4.19. That's a pretty good deal.

Mattie McDonald was one of the prettiest women I'd ever seen. She had light green eyes, dark brown hair and milky white skin. When she wafted by me, she smelled of lavender, honeysuckle and some other hypnotizing perfume I couldn't quite put my finger on. I spent a lot of my spare time daydreaming about her and not just because I wanted to know her. Ultimately, I wanted to be her.

When I walked out of the Hong Kong airport, the heat of the city slapped me so hard across the face, it was like a woman catching her cheating husband with a long-suspected mistress.

When I was the in the sixth grade, I used to style my hair in a long, hot dog curl. Not as in a ponytail; that would have been cute. Instead, I brushed it all forward as flat as I could get it and once it reached my forehead, I curled the entire thing upward to create mock bangs. Yeah, it was pretty horrible. If you don't believe me, check out the inset picture of the blog. That's me, in all my hair glory.Mind you, I wasn't trying to look bad on purpose. I just didn't know how to do my own h...

You know what they say about a man that has a big foot and long hair? Yeah, that they would make a really good Hercules. And while Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock has big feet, well he needed a little help in the hair department. Tonight The Rock is talking about how he became Hercules; everything from his feet, hair and to that fabulous body.
