Surveillance catches crooks in cell phone robbery

Posted: Updated:

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are looking for some crooks caught on camera breaking into a cell phone business.

Police are investigating after a couple of burglars were caught on camera breaking into a cell phone store and making off with the business' pricey merchandise.

The owner of Simple Mobile opened his business Wednesday morning to find a hole in the wall, shattered display cases and the register opened. "The last thing you expect is to walk into your place and see it broken into," said the owner.

He said, at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, less than two hours after closing his cell phone store, at least two individuals broke into his business. After reviewing surveillance video, he noticed the crooks gained access into his shop by first breaking into the neighboring appliance store. "There was one, who was the one who crawled in and took the merchandise," said the owner. "The other one, which seems to be the spotter with a light flashing it through the hole."

In surveillance video, one man can be seen crawling through a hole made by the crooks while another man held a flashlight. Once inside, the first man broke the glass on the display and placed about a dozen cell phones in a bag, he helped himself to about $100 from the register and crawled back through the hole.

About an hour later, the men returned, this time they tried to break into the store through another hole they made from the rear of the business. Surveillance video shows a flashlight illuminating inside, but something spooked them the second time, and they never made entry.

The owner said it is very frustrating knowing crooks were still able to break into the business after he has invested so much money into the store's security system. "The priority on this is really is not so much getting your merchandise, because yeah, do I want it back? Of course, but it's really capturing the crooks," said the owner.

The owner is offering a reward for anyone who has information on the crime.

If you have any information on this burglary, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.

Kindness and charm, unlike the people that live in Sin City, and i'm not talking about Vegas either. Things have changed in the town of Sin as in the motion picture while others have stayed the same. The cast of the movie told Deco what's new in part two.?
