David's Cafe closes after 37 years of service

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- After more than three decades of serving cafecitos on South Beach, David's Cafe has closed.

The popular Miami Beach restaurant closed its doors Sunday after 37 years of business.

The restaurant at 10th Street and Collins Avenue was best known for its cafecitos and providing food 24 hours a day.

"It's definitely bittersweet. It's been an emotional roller coaster ride, because 37 of my 40 years alive, I've been in this building with my family, since my parents started it," said the restaurant's owner, Adrian Gonzalez. "It's happy moments, sad moments, it's all of the above but smiling, because it's going to be a new chapter in our lives."

A second location, David's Cafe 2, closed a couple of years ago due to its high cost of rent.
