Brazen crook caught on camera robbing Miami Gardens Family Dollar

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Cameras were rolling during an armed robbery inside a discount store in Miami Gardens and police hope the video will be the key to cracking not only that crime but several others.

Miami Gardens Police have released surveillance video of an armed robbery at the Family Dollar store located along Northwest 183rd Street and 28th Avenue in Miami Gardens, last Wednesday, at around 8 p.m.

Upon walking into this Family Dollar store, an automated voice recording over a loud speaker declared, "Welcome to Family Dollar. Inside this location all activities are being monitored and recorded for your safety and protection. Thank you for shopping at Family Dollar." However, the warning did not stop one crook who robbed the store.

In the video an armed man is seen jumping over the counter and demanding money with customers inside the store. "You have to understand that it was Easter coming up, so you have a lot of the citizens out grabbing Easter baskets for the children," said Miami Gardens Police Detective Michael Wright. "To do this, this individual was very very brazen and had no regard for life."

According to police, the man can be heard threatening the clerk, saying, "I will kill you."

The crook was able to take an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the store. Although employees at the Family Dollar did not want to speak to the media, the manager of the store said the crook got away with more than $100 in cash.

Family Dollar shoppers were startled when they heard about the robbery. "I would be scared to death," said Family Dollar shopper Ronrica Morgan. "I come here with my nieces all the time, and to have them in that kind of jeopardy, it would scare me half to death. I worry for my life but mainly for theirs."

Police believe the crook may be behind other crimes.

"We want to make sure we grab this individual because we would not want this to happen to any other family business in the city," said Wright.

The store manager said the clerk was fired the night of the robbery because he did not follow company policy.

If you have any information on this armed robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.

Kindness and charm, unlike the people that live in Sin City, and i'm not talking about Vegas either. Things have changed in the town of Sin as in the motion picture while others have stayed the same. The cast of the movie told Deco what's new in part two.?
