Monster Mini Golf

Posted: Updated:

What could be more family-friendly than a round of miniature golf? Mom, Dad and the kids sharing some good, clean fun knocking golf balls through windmills in the bright sunshine. This wholesome activity takes a whole different turn for the macabre when the lights go out inside Monster Mini Golf. You've been warned.

There's something scary going on in Miramar: Monster Mini Golf. It is a spooky sporting experience that's cool for humans and zombies of all ages.

Felix Marte: "It's like mini golf on steroids. It's unique, glow in the dark, monster-themed."

Note to parents: Don't tell the kids the place isn't really haunted.

Felix Marte: "It's a little scary, but not scary, because we don't want the kids running out of here so you know it's right there. It's a good mix."

Once the uninitiated enter this Day-Glo domain, they're in another world.

Felix Marte: "You can see in their faces as soon as they walk in. They're like, 'Wow, whoa, whoa.' They look around and it's really enticing to the eye. All the great colors."

You'll be grooving to every golf shot you take on the eighteen holes of horror, because the music's loud and it never stops.

Felix Marte: "We have a great, great list of songs. They're classics, rock classics."

If knocking lit-up balls into glowing holes doesn't perk up your putter, you can try your luck at air hockey or any of the other games in the arcade.

Your expertise is rewarded, of course, but it's not like the old days.

Felix Marte: "We have the game cards and the tickets that you get from the redemption games. The prizes, they go electronically on the card, so you don't have to carry around a bucketload of tickets anymore."

The crowd gets decidedly funkier as the hours go by.

Felix Marte: "Early in the day we have the little ones. Then, as the day progresses, then you have Grandma and Grandpa; they come in with their grandchildren. Then later in the evening, you have some teenagers, some couples."

Are you brave enough to hit the links at Monster Mini Golf? You never know until you go.

Felix Marte: "Some people love it and they just stare at the monsters, and some can't take it, they just have to leave."

Mattie McDonald was one of the prettiest women I'd ever seen. She had light green eyes, dark brown hair and milky white skin. When she wafted by me, she smelled of lavender, honeysuckle and some other hypnotizing perfume I couldn't quite put my finger on. I spent a lot of my spare time daydreaming about her and not just because I wanted to know her. Ultimately, I wanted to be her.
