So. Fla. attorneys gift Bahamas getaway to wounded veterans

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A few South Florida attorneys have come together to give several wounded veterans a much-deserved vacation.

Friday, a group of 15 veterans set sail from Port Miami to the Bahamas. The injured troops will enjoy the weekend at a luxury resort in Bimini.

Wounded veteran Luke Murphy said, "I'm looking forward to bending some rods, catching some fish and just hanging out with the guys."

The group of attorneys were inspired by the veterans' stories about being injured in combat, so they teamed up with Resorts World Bimini to organize the three-day getaway.

The vets were eager to board the Bimini Super-Fast cruise ship. "This trip means a whole lot," said wounded veteran Christopher Gordon. "It just came out of the blue and my experiences of being away from home and experiencing the things that we had, to have these opportunities ... it's just unbelievable."

These heroes will enjoy days of sailing, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, and a special beach side barbecue. "I'm pretty pumped," said Murphy. "It's good to be down here, heading to Bimini with these guys, and, you know, where we all live, we're kinda the only amputees in the area, so to be all together on someone else's dime, showing us this generosity is just wonderful."

You know what they say about a man that has a big foot and long hair? Yeah, that they would make a really good Hercules. And while Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock has big feet, well he needed a little help in the hair department. Tonight The Rock is talking about how he became Hercules; everything from his feet, hair and to that fabulous body.
