Firefighters shave heads after colleague's son's cancer diagnosis

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A group of Miami firefighters gathered to cut their hair for cancer.

Three-year-old Jesse James, whose dad is a Miami Firefighter, is battling leukemia. Jesse was afraid of cutting his hair before undergoing chemotherapy, so dad and his co-workers came together in support. They shaved their own heads with a little help from Jesse.

Jesse Santerre, the father of cancer patient, said, "It means a lot. Since day one it's been a brotherhood coming into the fire department, and just seeing the outcome today makes it even a lot stronger. Plus, my son and my little one get to see how strong this brotherhood really is."

Jesse will be tested again Wednesday to see if his cancer is in remission.
