Grimaldi, Panthers agree on entry-level deal

Posted: Updated:

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- Forward Rocco Grimaldi has agreed to an entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers.

Grimaldi was drafted 33rd overall by the Panthers in the 2011 NHL draft. He led North Dakota to the Frozen Four this past season and was named MVP of the NCAA Midwest Regional. For his career at North Dakota, Grimaldi had 31 goals and 46 assists in 86 games.

Panthers general manager Dale Tallon says Grimaldi "is a hard working forward who possesses speed along with great vision on the ice."

Grimaldi won gold medals with the U.S. at the 2013 World Junior Championship and the 2010 Under-18 World Championship.
