Marlins place reliever Capps on disabled list

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Miami Marlins have put right-handed reliever Carter Capps on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right elbow and say he'll be out for at least a month.

The Marlins recalled right-hander Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans before Tuesday night's game at Washington.

Manager Mike Redmond said Capps had some tenderness in the elbow after pitching one inning Sunday in a loss to Milwaukee.

"We feel right now like it's something that can be treated with rest," Redmond said. "He's going to go four weeks without throwing. ... He'll be down for an extended period of time, then we'll start building him back up and see where we're at."

Capps was 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in nine games. In five appearances with the Marlins this season, Caminero is 0-1 with a 13.5 ERA.
