Omar Lewis joined the Channel 7 News Team in June of 2014, and is excited to call South Florida his new home.
After beginning his career at KXXV in Waco, Texas, Omar moved to Austin, Texas in 2012 as a general assignment reporter/multi-platform journalist at KXAN.
During his time in Austin, Omar covered the deadly crash at the SXSW music festival, and the 2014 shooting at Fort Hood. Omar’s work has been honored with an award from The Associated Press.
Omar is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from The University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism
During his free time, Omar gets to the beach as much as possible, enjoys traveling, and is a college football fan who always pulls for the SEC.
