Hercules

Posted: Updated:

The Rock loves making a good action movie, but his latest role in "Hercules" was a little different. Not only did he love it, but it's a project he's passionate about. I caught up with him recently at the Soho House on South Beach to talk about all things Greek. Wait, we didn't talk about Greek food.

If you haven't seen The Rock around lately, aka Dwayne Johnson, it's because he's been busy filming "Hercules." Yep, he's back on the big screen playing the son of Zeus. It's a project he's pretty passionate about.

Shireen Sandoval: "Is this a possible franchise in the making for you?"

Dwayne Johnson: "Possibly yes, that was always the goal. Well, the goal was to make a good movie, and if we made a good movie, and people liked it, then with the mythology of Hercules, with the golden fleece, and Jason and the Argonauts, there are so many different tie-ins we could do. Possibly, yes."

In Geek mythology, Hercules was the greatest of all Greek heroes. He was also known for his physical prowess, his courage and bravery.

Shireen: "On Deco, you know, we don't take anything too seriously."

Dwayne Johnson: "I love Deco."

Shireen: "Thank you."

Shireen: "We need Hercules 101."

Dwayne Johnson: "Okay, got it."

Shireen: "Tell us; there's so much about this story, but this takes place, like, after 12 something or other."

Dwayne Johnson: "Something, yes."

I went to college, I promise. Maybe I was just absent that day.

Shireen: "Give me the Hercules 101 and what Deco viewers need to know about the movie."

Dwayne Johnson: "We have Hercules exiled from Athens, has to complete the 12 labors, once completing the 12 labors, he goes after bad guy King Rhesus."

More specifically, he tries to cut off the kings head. Not to give anything away but if he does that, he can finally accept his fate as the son of Zeus.

Dwayne Johnson: "And then there's chains, and he breaks the chains, an iconic moment and at the end, you're sitting there and you're amazed by this and you float out of the theater."

Shireen: "That would have been four years of college by the way, but I prefer the Cliffs Notes."

Dwayne Johnson: "Ha ha, exactly."

Dwayne shines in the role, because it combines his on-screen charisma and his obvious physical attributes.

"Hercules" promises action, special effects that will blow your mind and a cast as beautiful as Hollywood could possibly deliver. It's a feast for the heart, the mind and the soul.

I'll never forget the endless summers I spent on the coast of North Carolina. My shoulders were always kissed by the sun, my hair was continually salty from the ocean and my one-piece, bright blue bathing suit was my constant companion.

The last time I had on a pair of overalls, I was miles from civilization with a whip in my hand, an hysterical co-worker by my side and five angry cowboys staring me down.

I don't remember dying, but I did. Twice. It was a chilly Fall morning in October at a dentist's office in Santa Fe. My mom had escorted me to what was supposed to be a regular wisdom teeth extraction appointment.

Sometimes, love can be hard to find in South Florida. The same can't be said for burgers, though. Tasty patties are everywhere. A new joint is offering up a unique take on this favorite comfort food. It's fresh, healthy and tastes like nothing you've tried before. Welcome to Burger Love.
