Concert Series

Posted: Updated:

WSVN -- If you're looking for affordable entertainment, there are several hot concert series around Miami. From Latin rock to cool jazz. 7's Belkys Nerey has them all in today's Style File.

Escape the steamy nights of summer for some cool jazz at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach.

Guest, Maureen Robinson: "You're not sweating it out, and the music itself becomes the hotness."

The summer music series Hot Nights, Cool Jazz happens every other Friday night inside the museum, and you can tap your feet to the beat of original music from some of the best jazz artists in South Florida.

Curator of Jazz Series at Bass Museum of Art, Fernando Ulibarri: "Tonight, we have the Mike Orta Trio. He's an incredible piano player. We have the Gary Thomas Quintet. Two weeks from that, we have the Pete Wallace Quintet."

Maureen Robinson: "It is serious, it is well done and it fills the room."

The concerts are free for museum members and just $10 for everyone else. Plus, you'll get complimentary wine and a chance to roam around the museum to check out the latest exhibitions.

Guest Patrick Gevas: "Have a drink, listen to some wonderful music and see some new things that you don't see every day."

The Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key may be a place of zen during the day, but on certain nights the luxurious hotel isn't shy about rocking out.

Director of Communications at Mandarin Oriental, Alexandra Wensley: "MO Bar Unplugged is our intimate concert series featuring top Latin performers in this gorgeous intimate setting."

Concerts are held several times a year in the hotel's lobby bar and lounge. The popular Chilean rock band La Ley kicked off the first one.

Guest: "I love it because you get to see them right there in front of us."

Guest, Erik Vance: "It's just intimate; it's small. It's full of Latin people that know the music, they appreciate the music."

Fifty dollars gets you a ticket to the show and two cocktails, or you can upgrade to dinner and show or even a hotel stay.

Alexandra Wensley: "You're hearing great music for up to an hour in the lobby, having great drinks and beautiful views of the bay."

You can also catch live music at MO Bar every Thursday through Saturday, from 8 to 11 p.m.

General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Jorge Gonzalez: "They vary from Cuban bands to Argentinean bands to Brazilian music. You can come here from Thursday to Saturday nights and not hear the same band."

Great music goes along with great drinks and food. The bar has shareable dishes from sushi to short rib sliders that way surpass ordinary bar food.

Alexandra Wensley: "The pork belly with the French toast is so delicious, and it comes with this great sweet, kinda tangy sauce."

The next MO Bar Unplugged is set for Sept. 3, featuring Spanish pop singer Rosana, and the next Hot Nights, Cool Jazz concert at the Bass museum is Friday, July 25.
