Getting Crowded

Local Forecast:

South Florida today look for tons of sunshine to make the temperatures sizzle in the afternoon into the low 90’s. As far as rain is concerned, look for a few inland showers and storms with slight rain chances. Widespread showers and storms possible from Wednesday through Friday with more tropical moisture moving in.

The weekend forecast will depend on what happens with a tropical wave currently east-southeast of the Leeward Islands.

Tropical Update: Getting crowded

#1 Fiona is still a depression and expected to fizzle in the next few days in the Atlantic Ocean.

#2 Gaston is a little stronger and likely to become a hurricane in the next 24-36 hours. This one too will be a worry for the shipping lanes. Expected to remain in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean through the weekend.

#3 Area of interest located 400 miles east-southeast of the Leeward Islands is producing widespread cloudiness and storms. Conditions will become more favorable for a depression to form when it moves near Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, and the southeastern and central Bahamas late week. Some models keep it away from the U.S. and a handful a FL worry.

Right now we are expecting this area to pass through the Northern Lesser Antilles Tuesday night through Wednesday, track close to Puerto Rico Wednesday night, and affect Hispaniola and the southeast Bahamas by Thursday. It will spread gusty winds, heavy rain with possible flash floods and mud slides over the Caribbean Islands to the Bahamas late week regardless of development. However, it remains a legitimate threat for the United States. All we can do is watch, wait and see what develops with this one in the next few days.
