Posted: Updated:

SOUTH MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Cutler Bay bank was evacuated for hours after a man robbed the bank and implied he had an explosive device.

According to authorities, Wednesday, at around 8:46 a.m., a masked man entered the TD Bank at 19199 S. Dixie Highway in Cutler Bay and demanded money from an employee.

Officials said the crook implied he had an explosive device inside a paper bag, which he left in the bank before fleeing with thousands of dollars.

The Miami-Dade Police Bomb Squad arrived on scene. A robot was used to sweep the building, and then the all clear was given a short time later.

There were no injuries. The bank is expected to be closed for the remainder of the day.

Concerned resident Beryl Jeune said, "I'm frightened. I'm very aware. In my car I keep my door locked all the time, and I'm looking around all the time. But this does not happen here. I'm shocked."

The robber was last seen wearing a ball cap and had his face covered.

If anyone has information as to the identity of this bank robber, they are urged to call the FBI at (305) 944-9101 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
