So what do you do when you operate two of the most successful nightclubs in the country?  Well, in the case of LIV and Story owner, David Grutman, you take your nightclub know how and partner with renowned restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow to open up Komodo, a new spot that’s ready to take Miami’s Brickell neighborhood’s dining scene to a whole new level.

Komodo is a 3 level 17-thousand square foot space with indoor and outdoor dining.  A lounge is coming soon and the food, under the direction of Chodorow’s China Grill Management team, features a modern Asian menu.  The Tuna and Toro ($28) and Kinoko rolls ($19) are fantastic.   The crispy Lobster Dynamite ($21) and Miso Black Cod skewers ($24) are not to be missed.  Pair up Chilean Seabass ($34) in a mushroom soy broth and white truffle oil with the Duck Fried Rice ($17) and thank me later.  Oh, and do yourself a favor and get the Grutman Pastrami Egg Roll ($16) it’s like nothing you’ve ever had and if you’re lucky you’ll have it at Komodo again.

The focus, of course, will be on the food but expect an amped up atmosphere once the 3rd floor lounge opens and possibly a celebrity or two dining in the private floating nest pods overlooking Brickell Avenue.  So while the Grutman/Chodorow team expand their hospitality empire in 2016 the only thing we’ll be expanding will be our waistlines.  New Year’s resolution be damned.  I’ll be at Komodo.
