Remember the jelly shoe craze back in the 80s? I don’t, but I was only 3 years old back then. Well, anyway, now it’s back, and it’s new and improved thanks to Melissa Shoes. The company has revolutionized looking pretty in plastic, and tonight, it’s one of Shireen’s favorite things.
Looking pretty in plastic has never looked or smelled so good. No matter how big or small, there’s something for all.

Their shoes are made from a plastic called Melflex. It’s 100 percent recyclable, and…
Cameron Pozo, Melissa Shoes: "It’s more malleable, more durable. It’s waterproof, which is great for Miami, and it’s also injected with a scent."
Yes, she said scent.
Cameron Pozo: "So all of our shoes smell like a candy you would love from your childhood. Some people say bubblegum, some people say strawberries."
By the way, Melissa isn’t just one designer. It’s a collaboration of some of the best fashion minds in the world.
Cameron Pozo: "We actually collaborate with multiple designers that are huge in fashion, like Vivienne Westwood, Jason Wu, Alexander Hurkvich, Karl Lagerfeld."
Although the company is based in Brazil, its boutiques are new to the U.S.
Shireen Sandoval: "Explain the name ‘Melissa’ to me."
Cameron Pozo: "So Melissa comes from a Brazilian flower."
For the blog, with wardrobe from Koko & Palenki, Melissa put me in "The Ultra Girl" to keep it chic, the "Flower Boot" for a dose of fabulousness, and to really make a statement, their Red Heart classic heel.
Cameron Pozo: "It’s all-season, it’s a good transition shoe, and it’s also a good grab-and-go shoe, too."
Whether I’m wearing em’, sniffing em’ or just being environmentally chic, "Pretty in Plastic" is one of my favorite things.
