NEAR PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WSVN) — A pair of Florida hunters made an unexpected catch, when they were faced with a 15-foot alligator.

The hunters shared the images of the massive gator on Facebook where they quickly went viral.

According to Fox News, farmer Lee Lightsy was out hunting with his son, a guide and two other hunters, when they discovered the animal in one of their cattle ponds.

The gator was so big, the hunters had to use a farm tractor to pull it out of the water.

At the end of the day, the hunters had bagged a 15-foot, 800-pound alligator. While that’s big, it’s still about 250 pounds shy of the state record.

The pair plan on having the gator up for display at their hunting shows and expos.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has not yet confirmed the size of the gator.
