NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) — A shooting at a Northwest Miami-Dade strip club has left one person dead and another hospitalized.

Police are on the scene at Extacy North Strip Club, at 79th Street and Seventh Avenue, where a shooting killed 31-year-old Wilton Jackson and left another man, 29-year-old Courtney Yarborough, hospitalized.

Witnesses said that a fight broke out inside of the club before shots started going off.

The grandfather of the deceased said he lives nearby and heard the gunshots. He said he knew someone had been shot. Then, around 5:30 a.m., he received a call notifying him that the victim was his own grandson. "I went to this club back when I was young, and I never thought I’d see my grandson die in the parking lot here," said Wilton’s grandfather, Willie Jackson. "That’s the reality of Liberty City. Just that — I don’t know what’s going on."

The other victim, Yarborough, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. However, his sister did say that he is talking, and that he also said a fight broke out in the club. "He’s fine. Everything’s coming together," she said. "We’re a praying family and God’s got us. He doing good."

Yarborough’s sister said a friend rushed him to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds to the hands and the head. The car used to transport Yarborough was covered in blood, shattered glass and was riddled with bullet holes.

Both of the victim’s families said that they are good people who try to avoid trouble.
