DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) — Donald Trump’s daughter made a South Florida stop to unveil a newly renovated spa in the area. She also spoke with 7News about her famous father, who’s leading the pack for the Republican presidential nomination.

Ivanka Trump gave attendees at the event a first look at the iconic Trump Resort and Spa’s newly renovated 50,000-square-foot spa,  almost unheard of across the country, following a $250 million investment.

Donald Trump was not at the unveiling, but he was on the minds for many who attended.

Ivanka spoke to 7News one-on-one about her famous dad. "My father is an exceptional leader and he’s shown that," she said, "in terms of how he’s dominated the political discussion in this country, and in terms of how he set the agenda from the day that he got into the race."

And the GOP presidential race has certainly gotten testy. A seemingly fed-up Trump blasted his competition on Twitter. One tweet read, "Wow, just announced that lyin’ Ted and Kasich are going to collude in order to keep me from getting the Republican nomination. Desperation!"

Under a newly announced arrangement, Ohio Gov. John Kasich will step back in the Indiana contest to let fellow GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz bid for voters. And Cruz will do the same for Kasich in Oregon and New Mexico to snag those delegates.

It’s a measure that could help knock Trump out if there is a contested convention.

Meanwhile, in response to the race to the White House and the politics involved, Ivanka believes her dad is a strong candidate. "My father is very strong, so I’ve seen him take on many formidable opponents over the years, and this is not proving to be any different from the day he announced his candidacy," she said. "He has been number one."

She also said that, like other similar projects, this massive renovation project has been a family affair and a big investment in energy and finances.
