WELLINGTON, Fla. (WSVN) — Prince Harry arrived in South Florida, Tuesday, for a game of polo in the name of charity.
The 2016 Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup was hosted by the Valiente Polo Farm in Palm Beach, Wednesday.
"It’s a great opportunity for us to give something back," said British polo player Malcolm Borwick.
The annual event raises money for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale, which supports vulnerable children and young people living with HIV in Lesotho in
Southern Africa.
"This is a really important charity," said Borwick. "It’s very close to Prince Harry’s heart, and it’s a moment that we get the chance to contribute something back."
Residents are happy to have the Prince in South Florida. "I think it’s great. I think it’s good for polo, good for his charity, and I hope his charity makes a lot of money," said resident Allan Shafer.
Herman Moraida, a deli owner across the street from the polo grounds, remembers when Harry’s father Prince Charles came by in the 1980s. "It is exciting to have royalty over here," Moraida said. "We are used to having a lot of very important people around here."
Security on the grounds was increased in light of the royal’s visit. Local law enforcement, along with the FBI, the Secret Service and Scotland Yard have all been involved in Harry’s visit.
Before the game, Prince Harry took photos with Nacho Figueras and then began to play a game of Round Robin.
