Leonardo DiCaprio loves three things: his Oscar, models and the environment. And he’s in South Florida to talk about one of them. Deco’s chief environmental/model enthusiast Chris Van Vliet is on South Beach with more.
He’s here to talk about one of those three, and it is not about models. Every actor, every celebrity has their own cause and for Leo, it’s the environment.
Leonardo DiCaprio: “We’ve known about this for decades, for over half a century.”
Leonardo DiCaprio says we need to do something and do something now to stop climate change.
Leonardo DiCaprio: “We’re knowingly doing this. I just want to know how far we’ve gone and if there is anything we can do to stop it.”
In his new documentary “Before the Flood” Leo takes on climate change head-on, speaking with President Obama, Pope Francis and entrepreneur Elon Musk to see what can be done to reverse or at least slow down its effects.
At an event at the White House on Monday night, Leo shared some of his findings with the president.
Leonardo DiCaprio: “We’re going to feel some of the repercussions of climate change in the form of rising sea levels, more intense hurricanes.”
Leo has been speaking out about climate change for years and when he won his first Oscar in February, he used part of his speech to talk about it.
Leonardo DiCaprio: “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species.”
“Before the Flood” is in theaters on Oct. 21 and can be seen for free on National Geographic on Oct. 30.
