Fathers' Day Weekend

Posted by Phil Ferro

The week ended with severe weather for S. Florida. We may see a few storms on Saturday due to warm temperatures that may produce sea breeze collisions in the afternoon.

In and around the areas of Kentucky and Tennessee, there is a system of high pressure that can be seen in the water vapor imagery making its way down to Florida by the end of the weekend. This dry air will push a surface low pressure system, located near the panhandle, away from us in a southwesterly direction.

On Fathers' Day, a northeasterly wind will bring in breezy conditions and a better chance for some sunshine. There might be a possibility for an isolated shower or storm in the afternoon. Have a great Fathers' Day! I know I will!

Seasonal Weekend Heat

Our Weekend Warm-up

We were spoiled with a mild start to the week as the air was drier and the highs were below normal. Over the next few days, it will be hot with more humidity as we reach seasonal afternoon heat. The dome of warm air that has not budged will bring the peak heat of the upper 80s with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.

Back to Summer-like Heat

Good-bye mild weather:

I hope you've enjoyed our recent mild temps teamed up with drier air. A dome of warm air will push the mercury readings into the ballpark of our 87° average over the next couple of days. A cold front sweeping to the north will add more clouds to the scenery with a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms into next week.

One last mild day:

High pressure will keep us mostly dry under sunny skies and enjoying mild temps for this time of year. You can thank a huge dome of high pressure sitting over us for the lovely conditions. High pressure after all, is your fair-weather friend.
