Week starts wet

A nearby Tropical Wave has been drenching much of Florida and the unsettled times will continue a bit longer. On Sunday, the tropical wave (stretched-out area of low pressure) was sending rounds of rain with heavy downpours over the region.
The axis of the wave has lifted north... into central Florida while expanding into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. Still, there's an abundance of tropical moisture being "tugged" into our area. The excessive moisture will likely lead to the return of more showers... with heavy rain potential through Monday, at least.
The wave is expected to approach the Panhandle where it is forecast to weaken or dissipate, by Tuesday or Wednesday. Once that happens, a sprawling area of high pressure will build over us from the western Atlantic. Drier days will follow. Of course, we're still in the very heart of the Rainy Season so some isolated showers cannot be ruled out. However, the potential for additional rain and storms will be on the low side (of average) by the middle of the week.
