A wave and a storm
Posted by Phil Ferro
We are watching 2 features in the Atlantic Basin. One, a tropical wave and two, tropical storm "Ernesto".
The wave stretches from Cuba through the Bahamas and is expected to move west. This will drag plenty of moisture our way that will begin arriving late on Friday and sticking around through the weekend. Expect scattered pockets of rain with some gusty winds at times.
Tropical storm Ernesto will be impacting Barbados and St.Vincent in the Windward islands overnight with top winds of 50 mph. It is then expected to move across the Caribbean Sea and be very close to the Yucatan Peninsula in about 5 days. There is a chance it could grow stronger as it moves over the warm waters of the Caribbean. The biggest worry will be by the start of next week when Ernesto is forecasted to be a Cat 1 hurricane near Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. We'll be watching this carefully and will bring you the latest as we get it.
