Weak Perturbation
Posted by Phil Ferro
It was a mild start to our Friday morning as we began the day with lows in the upper 70's.
There have been a few pop up showers in some areas with clouds and more showers expected
for tonight due to a weak perturbation near the Bahamas that is moving west over the Atlantic
possibly making its way towards the east by this evening. Keep your umbrellas handy as
scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected through out this weekend.
In the tropics, tropical storm Nadine continues moving north at approximately 14 mph.
Nadine is expected to turn towards the northeast with the possibility of becoming a hurricane
within the next 48 hours. Because Nadine is over the open waters of the Atlantic, it will remain
a concern only for the shipping industry.
Also in the Central Atlantic, there is a tropical wave located over 1000 miles east of the Windward
Islands. As of the latest advisory, this wave only has a 10 percent chance of development with little
growth expected due to unfavorable environmental conditions.
