Columbus Day Regatta

Posted by Vivian Gonzalez

The Columbus Day Regatta takes place this weekend and I know a lot of you want to know what conditions will be like out on the water. Take out your boats!!! Bay waters are going to be at a light chop with a NE wind heading into Monday between 6-11 knots. A quick moving sprinkle is possible, but overall looking great. However, for those of you planning to work on a nice South Florida tan... the UV index will be at a high range, so you want to make sure you soak up the sun responsibly, slather up the sunscreen and reapply often! Also, the weekend will be more Summer-Like than Fall and we want for everyone to stay hydrated, by drinking plenty of water.

Saturday: Our weather will be mostly dry much like Friday with high pressure in place. We will only see an occasional sprinkle and an inland thunderstorm.

Sunday: A few more showers could be possible with a weak front entering into North-Central Florida.

Columbus Day: The front fades over us not bringing any noticeable temperature differences. What it will do is bring drier, less humid air.

Tropics Update: All is quiet. There is only one minor disturbance over the Bahamas (not being followed by NHC) that is just bringing scattered showers to the Bahamas.

Have a wonderful weekend South Florida and make it a safe one!

White Hot Long Weekend

Posted by Vivian Gonzalez

A white hot day is underway... Today we will have a very similar situation with high temperatures reaching the low 90s. However, it will feel hotter because the humidity levels are high. Record heat is possible in Miami. The forecast is calling for a high of 92 degrees, old record is 94 set back in 1989.

It shouldn't come as a surprise, (but yes) the start of the south Florida "rainy season" has begun!   According to the National Weather Service, the start date officially began on Saturday May 18, close to the median start of May 20.  Our rainy season lasts for 5-months, ending around the third week of October.

Still On Flood Watch

Posted by Phil Ferro

Wet and Soggy Work Week

Clouds with hints of sunshine will be the routine over the next couple of days. The push of more warm, moist air will amp up the instability over South Florida tonight bringing a chance for heavy rain. A Flood Watch is in effect for the Miami-Dade and Broward Counties until 10pm. An area of low pressure sweeping to the north will keep a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms at the start of the weekend.
