Still a Chance
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
A weak front that faded last night responsible for the rain late in the day is leaving some moisture behind. Already about 2 inches of rain have been estimated to have fallen in Lower Matecumbe Key that it triggered a flood advisory in the morning. Therefore, look for sun and still a chance of showers and storms once again on Thursday afternoon. The activity that does form shouldn't be as numerous as Wednesday.
On Friday, another weak front will enter Central Florida and it should keep our air steamy and also help induce some showers and storms. The good news is that computer models now are suggesting this weekend may be pleasant and less humid. If the front fades early Saturday, then it will be mostly dry heading into the upcoming week! Let's keep our fingers crossed that the models keep showing this happening for our all important weekend!
Tropical Update: All is quiet. The National Hurricane Center issued the last advisory on Rafael Wednesday afternoon.
Have a wonderful Friday Eve South Florida and make it a safe one!

Barry and the Wave
Posted by Brent Cameron
Wasn't there a musical group called Katrina and the Waves? (I'm really dating myself by remembering them, I know). Well, right now... in the tropics... we have Barry and a wave! Tropical Storm Barry formed on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the Atlantic season's second named system. The center of Barry will be moving into Mexico on Thursday with widespread rain over the southern states of Mexico. At this point, it's a low-end tropical storm that's forecast to make landfall just north of Veracruz, Mexico.

The HEAT Continues
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
The "HEAT" Continues South Florida. High temperatures expected to range in the low 90s with the feel's like temperatures in the triple digits. Summer officially starts on Friday and we've been feeling the "HEAT" for a while now. This is due to steamy winds from the South as there is an area of high pressure centered in the Western Atlantic Ocean extending into the Gulf of Mexico. As far as rain chances are concerned, we will have typical chances each afternoon through Friday of seeing spotty inland storms. By the weekend, we could be dealing with a few more showers, but still feeling the Summer "HEAT." Temperature reading will be normal.

Super Moon

It's back. The Super-Moon. It will take place this Friday at moonrise. Hopefully Mother nature will cooperate. There is a slight chance for showers on Friday. The moon should rise at 6:30pm.

Feeling the HEAT

We are going to be feeling the Heat once again this afternoon. Summer officially begins on Friday and wouldn't you know it... it's started a few weeks early for us with temperature reading a few degrees above where we should be for this time of year. The weather so far has been great and outside of a spotty inland storm today and Thursday that is basically it. On Friday, we could see some more moisture around.
