Cloudy Windy Friday
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
It's a cloudy windy Friday South Florida... The new forecast package has bumped up our rain chances and clouds hanging around for today. Recent radar trends indicate a line of light to moderate rain showers over Grand Bahama island moving our way due a very strong ocean breeze in place. Therefore, we have seen more wet spots in Miami-Dade and the upper Florida Keys this morning. Broward has been mostly dry.
The good news is that the weekend is looking brighter with only a few coastal showers. High pressure will be in control of our weather pattern keeping things breezy to windy along the coast. This strong wind will also create problems for beach goers and boaters. Therefore, please be extra cautious. I do think if your plans take you to the beach, you will be able to soak up the South Florida sun. Just make sure to swim at guarded beaches.
Tropical Update: Today marks the end of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It turned out to be an above average season... very active. There were 19 named storms, of those 10 became hurricanes and of those 10, 1 became a major hurricane. The most notable storms this year were Isaac and Sandy.
Have a wonderful weekend South Florida and make it a safe one!
