Friday-Weekend Outlook
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
The air remains juiced up due to a front located over Central Florida. This front will slowly move South and cross South Florida some time on Thursday. Once it crosses, an area of high pressure will build around the Southeast United States and drier weather will be around just in time for the weekend. However, the breeze will pick up out of the North-Northeast on Thursday and relax some for the weekend. The good news is that once high pressure builds, it will be less humid and temperatures will go back to normal. For now, we will be on the record watch this afternoon with high temperatures in the middle to upper 80s.
If you haven't made any weekend plans... We have the event for you! The Winterfest Boat Parade will be taking place this Saturday in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. This is the event that will totally get you in the holiday spirit. The parade begins at 6:30pm. 100 boats will be decorated... The parade will be traveling East on the New River in Fort Lauderdale and North on the Intracoastal to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach... Come out and enjoy 12 miles of the "Greatest Show on H2O" sunny South Florida style! For more information log on to www.wsvn.com. See you there!

Have a wonderful Wednesday South Florida and make it a safe one!

Flood Watch
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
Almost 9 inches of rain have been reported in portions of South Florida in the last 12-15 hours. Street flooding of urban areas due to poor drainage and saturated soils with additional rains expected today will make streets impassible. Therefore, the National Weather Service has a flood watch in effect for coastal and metro Broward and Miami-Dade until 10pm.

Severe Weather Expected

Lots of rain has been falling in Broward. Areas of Pompano Beach, Margate and Deerfield Beach have already been under an Urban Flood advisory. Additional showers and storms today will produce heavy rain leading localized street flooding, frequent lightning and gusty winds with the activity that forms. Therefore, be sure to pack the patience throughout your afternoon to early evening commute because it will be slowed down by the rain.

Recent days have featured higher humidity levels and (like it or not) our steamy air will likely stick around... for a very long time! The official start of the summer season is a full month away. Just the same, south Florida appears to be getting our usual "head start" on summer type weather... NOW.

Seasonal Weekend Heat

Our Weekend Warm-up
We were spoiled with a mild start to the week as the air was drier and the highs were below normal. Over the next few days, it will be hot with more humidity as we reach seasonal afternoon heat. The dome of warm air that has not budged will bring the peak heat of the upper 80s with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.
