Winter Weather
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
Winter officially begins Friday at 6:12am and shortly thereafter, a strong cold front moves in. Any severe weather with this cold front will stay North... This front sprouted blizzard warnings for the Midwest as well as a tornado watch box for Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and the panhandle of Florida for much of the day. We will not see this type of severe weather in South Florida, in fact, the tail-end of the front will weaken and come through mostly dry. There is only a slight chance of a shower ahead as the cold front should pass through before 1pm Friday.
Once the cold front crosses South Florida the clouds will clear and the wind will pick up out of the North. Since this front has enough upper-level support from the jet stream, cold Canadian air will work it's way rather quickly to South Florida. Friday night temperatures will drop into the upper 40s. Therefore, Saturday morning... look for middle to upper 40s for low temperatures and it will probably feel colder due to the strong wind. High temperatures on Saturday will range in the upper 60s.
If you haven't pulled out the Winter gear do so now because we will be experiencing Winter Weather South Florida style. Get ready to bundle up this will be the coldest air so far of the season.
Have a wonderful Thursday and make it a safe one!

Our rainy season lasts for 5-months, ending around the third week of October.

Still On Flood Watch

Wet and Soggy Work Week
Clouds with hints of sunshine will be the routine over the next couple of days. The push of more warm, moist air will amp up the instability over South Florida tonight bringing a chance for heavy rain. A Flood Watch is in effect for the Miami-Dade and Broward Counties until 10pm. An area of low pressure sweeping to the north will keep a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms at the start of the weekend.

Flood Watch

Almost 9 inches of rain have been reported in portions of South Florida in the last 12-15 hours. Street flooding of urban areas due to poor drainage and saturated soils with additional rains expected today will make streets impassible. Therefore, the National Weather Service has a flood watch in effect for coastal and metro Broward and Miami-Dade until 10pm.
