Holiday Forecast
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
Your holiday forecast is looking great South Florida. We started off with more clouds, but now more sunshine is filtering through. A weak front nearby has triggered a few coastal showers this morning, but overall not dampening your early morning commute. Inauguration day South Florida for us should be mostly dry with a light breeze out of the East. Changes will take place in the forecast on Tuesday due to a cold front located now over the Southeast United States. This front should swing down our state on Tuesday maybe producing a few showers. However, don't get too excited because we are only expecting a slight dip in degrees. Wake up temperatures on Wednesday will be in the low 60s along the coast (very seasonal) and there will be a few upper 50s inland... so nice and refreshing for the middle of the week awaits.
Late in the week there are some signs of a stronger cold front approaching South Florida. One computer model shows a weaker cold front moving through between Friday and Saturday and another model shows a stronger cold front. For now, we will have to wait and see with updated model runs what they will be showing for the weekend. In any case, leaving temperatures near normal for the weekend and will adjust accordingly.
Have a great holiday South Florida and make it a safe one!

Feeling the HEAT

We are going to be feeling the Heat once again this afternoon. Summer officially begins on Friday and wouldn't you know it... it's started a few weeks early for us with temperature reading a few degrees above where we should be for this time of year. The weather so far has been great and outside of a spotty inland storm today and Thursday that is basically it. On Friday, we could see some more moisture around.

Tropical depression Two made landfall over Belize Monday night, with gusty winds and heavy rain. The main threat over the next day or so over Belize, Northern Honduras, Southern Yucatan and Guatemala will be rain. Flash flooding over mountainous areas will be likely as 6 inches of rain are expected in the next 48 hours.

Low rain chance for now

Dad's day weekend was nice if you had outdoor activities planned and the start of the week is just the same. A low rain chance is expected on this Monday. We have a strong area of high pressure in control and if we see any showers or storms they will form well inland due to an East-Southeast breeze. However, seasonal chances are expected from Tuesday through Thursday. Originally the thinking was that we were going to tap into some tropical moisture associated with a disturbance (tropical wave) in the Northwestern Caribbean Sea, but it seems like the majority of it will be suppressed to the South. We will be monitoring moisture levels carefully. For now, only a 30-40% chance of rain is expected through Thursday.
