Warming Up

Weekend is here:

• After a few cool days last week, South Florida will gradually warm up.
• High pressure responsible for the nice cool starts and mild afternoons is beginning to weaken. I
• It is slipping slowly into the Western Atlantic Ocean and will allow the breeze to shift out of the East by Saturday. Look for high temperatures to reach the upper 70s on Saturday and in the low 80s Sunday.

Long run:

Most of the computer models are in agreement that conditions will stay mostly dry through early next week. In fact, they keep suggesting a weak front will move through Tuesday or Wednesday and having little to no impact on our weather. .

Severe Weather Expected

Lots of rain has been falling in Broward. Areas of Pompano Beach, Margate and Deerfield Beach have already been under an Urban Flood advisory. Additional showers and storms today will produce heavy rain leading localized street flooding, frequent lightning and gusty winds with the activity that forms. Therefore, be sure to pack the patience throughout your afternoon to early evening commute because it will be slowed down by the rain.

Recent days have featured higher humidity levels and (like it or not) our steamy air will likely stick around... for a very long time!   The official start of the summer season is a full month away.  Just the same, south Florida appears to be getting our usual "head start" on summer type weather... NOW.

Our Weekend Warm-up

We were spoiled with a mild start to the week as the air was drier and the highs were below normal. Over the next few days, it will be hot with more humidity as we reach seasonal afternoon heat. The dome of warm air that has not budged will bring the peak heat of the upper 80s with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the next few days.

Heat Humidity Sunshine And some afternoon storms Expect temps to reach the upper 80's (Typical is 87°) both Saturday and Sunday. And of course, there will be a chance for showers and inland storms as well.
