Morning rain made for flood concerns around Northeast Miami-Dade from 5-6:30am. We had two reports of hail also. One in Coral Gables and the other in Cutler Bay. The rain overnight was due to a batch of moisture moving in from the Northwestern Bahamas. We have surface winds out of the South-Southeast due to an area of high pressure, which will drag in the occasional coastal shower throughout the day.
The updated forecast is calling for drier conditions late morning through early afternoon. However, with plenty of available moisture around the sea breeze will fire up some showers and storms inland. Right now, severe weather is not expected, but due to recent trends we can't rule out the possibility.
As for Mother's Day weekend, it is looking steamy with bright sunshine. Each afternoon we will have the sea breeze form isolated showers and storms inland. By Monday, the leading edge of a weak cold front will make for a soggy start to the week.
Wishing all mother's a special weekend!
