Feeling the HEAT
Posted by Vivian Gonzalez
We are going to be feeling the Heat once again this afternoon. Summer officially begins on Friday and wouldn't you know it... it's started a few weeks early for us with temperature reading a few degrees above where we should be for this time of year. The weather so far has been great and outside of a spotty inland storm today and Thursday that is basically it. On Friday, we could see some more moisture around.
If you are planning on going to the American Airlines Arena to watch our Miami Heat play in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, look for temperatures in the upper 80s feeling steamy. Only a few coastal showers are possible, but there is only a 20% chance in the forecast. Let's go Heat and don't forget to wear your White Hot gear tonight!
Tropical Update: Tropical Depression #2 is still holding on. As of 11am, The National Hurricane Center is stating that the center is becoming difficult to locate. However, there is a broad surface circulation and heavy rain covering most of the Yucatan Peninsula. This system could be downgraded by 5pm. If the center manages to move into the South Bay of Campeche in the next 24 hours, there is a good chance it could become better organized. Even if the center moves over water significant strengthening is not expected, due to the fact that a large portion of the system will remain over land.
For now, the main concern will be the heavy rain and gusty winds over mountainous areas. About 3-5 inches of rain and up to isolated amounts of 10 inches are possible in the next 24-36 hours. This could cause significant flooding over portions of Central America and Eastern Mexico.
