Barry and the Wave

Wasn't there a musical group called Katrina and the Waves? (I'm really dating myself by remembering them, I know). Well, right now... in the tropics... we have Barry and a wave! Tropical Storm Barry formed on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the Atlantic season's second named system. The center of Barry will be moving into Mexico on Thursday with widespread rain over the southern states of Mexico. At this point, it's a low-end tropical storm that's forecast to make landfall just north of Veracruz, Mexico.
Of more interest to us (in Florida) is a distant tropical wave that we need to watch. No, development isn't likely... but if the wave holds together, our local rain chances will be greatly enhanced by the weekend! For now, our rain and storm chances are relatively low and favoring interior and western areas of Florida. This pattern will hold, it appears, through Friday... but all bets are off for the upcoming weekend.
By the way, Friday is the first official day of summer. Of course, we (in south Florida) have had summer-type weather for nearly two months, already!
